My Favorite Waffle Dessert Recipe

Here’s exactly how I make these delicious waffles at home. It’s a no-fuss, beginner-friendly recipe that’s hard to mess up. And it’s super flexible if you need to adjust quantities.

 Ingredients:

3 cups of flour

4 eggs (separate yolks and whites)

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1/2 cup of sugar

1 and 3/4 cups of sparkling water (or regular still water/milk if preferred)

1/2 cup of oil (sunflower or light vegetable oil works well)

1 teaspoon of baking powder

Cooking Tip:

This recipe uses a standard 250 ml glass as a measuring cup. If your glass is smaller or larger, remember to adjust other ingredients proportionally (especially eggs, salt, and baking powder). It’s a handy way to keep the recipe balanced!

Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Waffle Dessert

1. Separate the Eggs

Crack your eggs and separate the yolks from the whites into two bowls. Set the yolks aside and beat the whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form. This gives the batter that light, airy texture.

2. Mix the Wet Ingredients
In the bowl with the yolks, add the sugar and mix until smooth.

. Gradually add this dry mix into the wet mixture, stirring gently until everything is well incorporated.

4. Fold in the Egg Whites
Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the batter by hand using a spatula or spoon. Take your time and don’t overmix—you want to keep as much of that airy volume as possible.

5. Let the Batter Rest
Let the batter sit for about 10 to 20 minutes. This helps the flour fully absorb the liquids and makes for even fluffier waffles.

6. Bake or Fry

If you have a waffle iron, heat it up and lightly grease it. Pour in a ladle of batter and cook until golden brown and crisp.

No waffle iron? No worries! You can fry the batter like pancakes on a nonstick pan. They come out soft and golden—perfect for layering with fruit or whipped cream.

🧁 Topping Ideas:

  • Whipped CreamAdds lightness and creaminess.

  • Fresh Fruits: Strawberries, bananas, or berries for freshness.

  •  Ice CreamVanilla or your favorite flavor for indulgence.

  •  Syrups: Maple, caramel, or chocolate syrup for drizzling.

You can make your waffles look (and taste!) like something straight out of a fancy cafe. Kids love building their own, and adults… well, we don’t say no to waffle bars either

 Fun Fact:

Did you know the word “waffle” comes from the Dutch word wafel, and waffles date back to the 13th century in Europe? They were originally baked over open fires between two hot irons and eaten more like crispy bread. Now, we dress them up in delicious layers of cream, chocolate, and fruit. What a tasty evolution!
